How to choose the best stallion for your mare
The Stallion Match PRO Report is our most detailed report for broodmare owners. It takes one of your mares and hypothetically mates her against up to 100 stallions, then ranks every cross so you can see which matches are worth pursuing.
It is built for the moment when you have a mare and need to decide where to send her.
How it works
When you order a PRO Report, you choose three things:
- Your mare - the broodmare you are planning for
- Stallion locations - the regions you would consider sending her to
- Stud fee budget - a minimum and maximum fee range
We then take every stallion that fits your criteria, up to 100 of them, and run a full hypothetical mating for each one. You can also add or remove individual stallions from the list before the report runs.
Each cross is scored and ranked, so the report opens with a clear order of best to worst matches.
What you get for each mating
Every hypothetical mating in the report includes:
- Pedigree strength score - an overall rating for the cross
- Match rating - Perfect Match, 20/20 Match or Normal Match (see Stallion Match Ratings)
- Dosage profile - speed, classic and stamina balance, with Dosage Index and Centre of Distribution
- Aptitude profile - the distances and ages at which similar pedigrees have succeeded
- Similar stakes winners - stakes winners with closely matching pedigrees, with an overlap comparison
- Sibling snapshot - sale prices and race records of full, three-quarter and half-siblings from the dam line
- Sire, dam-sire and grand-sire statistics - runners, winners, stakes winners and strike rates
- Nicking statistics - how the sire and dam-sire cross has performed historically
- Market context - yearling sale data for the sire

What sits behind it
A report is only as good as the data behind it. The PRO Report runs on a database of more than 1.4 million horses, over 10 million runner records and 1 million races, covering more than a decade of racing across 41 countries, with over 500,000 sales results behind the market analysis.
Every number in your report is calculated live at the moment you order. We do not use pre-calculated statistics that go stale between updates. This is the main reason a PRO Report takes a little longer to produce than our other reports.
Delivery and timing
The PRO Report is delivered digitally through a dedicated online platform, rather than as a traditional PDF. This lets us include more detail and interactive analysis than a fixed document would allow.
Reports are processed in the order they are received. Depending on the queue at the time, most reports are ready within the hour, and you will be notified when yours is complete.
